Name Explanation

Hello, Reader!
I am a lover of politics, history, and common sense. I was also introduced to the world of statistics not too long ago, and find the analysis of confusing graphs very interesting. As a frequent facebook user, I have noticed that sharing pictures that are often misleading about things like the "Make Kony Famous" movement, the legalization gay marriage, the Catholic Bishops' stance against the birth control and support of the "Freedom of Consciousness" Act, are extremely common. But facts are often misconstrued, and the American people are, in most cases, too lazy to find out if things are true or not. Personally, when something in the news sounds fishy to me, I started looking up more information until I understand what is truly going on. There's not enough curious people in the world today, and people just simply believe what they are taught without any proof or evidence about why their stance makes sense. People are also severely confused about the difference between coorelation and causation among their statistics. Just because ice cream sales go up at the same time as criminal arrests go up doesn't mean one causes the other!
That's why I've created this blog. I am a Catholic, but believe that I am unbiased when I pick a stance on a topic. I choose to believe and defend something because it is something I'm confident in and because it simply makes sense. I've researched many things while following current events, and have a constant yearning to find out even more. I've made this blog so that I can clarify what is REALLY going on to people who don't have the same knowledge that I have.
My Blog Name is "Now Stats Legit" because it is a pun of "Now that's legitimate." Because I tell it how it is using concrete evidence while still remaining realistic. Enjoy my blog! :)
